What to Expect

Look for friendly greeters when you come. You will be given a special OakCreek coffee mug as a free welcome gift. Please ask a greeter to direct you to our children's classes. Children are always welcome to stay with you in the service or they can attend our children's classes. It's your call!

Come dressed as you feel comfortable. Some will dress up a bit and many will not.

Service time is 10:30 AM - 11:50 AM.

A typical service will look like this:

10:30 - 10:50 - Worship Music
10:50 - 11:00 - Greeting & Announcements
11:00 - 11:30 - Teaching Time
11:30 - 11:45 - Communion
11:45-  11:50 - Closing Song

Worship Music - Our worship team, led by Jonathan Kittle (picture below), employs guitars, drums, sometimes keyboards, and vocalists. As we grow, more instruments will be added. Our style is celebratory, but it is also designed to allow time for reverent reflection. Jesus Christ is the focus of our worship. We are not putting on a performance, but instead trying to lead each other into God's presence. So, you may choose to sing along, to lift your hands, or just to listen and consider. During the worship time, the worship leader or another will read a Scripture passage that dovetails with or illuminates what will be presented in the Teaching Time.

Greeting & Announcements - After the worship team finishes, we will have a short greeting time. It's an opportunity to shake someone's hand and say Hi to them. The children 6-10 years old will be dismissed to go to "Young Oaks" in the children's ministry area. Then, there may be a few announcements before the teaching time begins.

Teaching Time - Then, Pastor Mike will bring a message from the Bible
. He seeks,  with the guidance of the Spirit, to say only what the text of the Bible says, clearly and without embellishment. You'll find his messages to be down to earth  and accessible, but also relevant to your daily life. Often, he will have young people or others come up to assist him in presenting illustrations which will underline the Bible message. Pastor Mike speaks in everyday language, not church-talk. While he will never water down the teachings of Scripture, he will present it in a way that displays our confidence that God's Word is true and
powerful. And that its truth, clearly presented, makes an impact on believer and non-believer alike.

Communion (Lord's Supper) - At Jesus' last supper on earth, He commanded his followers to remember His substitutionary death for our sins (1Corinthians 11:23-26). He told his followers to re-enact this breaking of bread. The broken bread represents His body broken for us and the grape juice represents His blood, shed for the forgiveness of our sins. These symbols of bread and juice prompt us to remember Christ's death for us and to look forward to His return--our true hope and earnest desire.

At OakCreek we offer "open communion." All those present who have trusted Jesus alone for the forgiveness of their sins and eternal life are encouraged to participate regardless of your denominational background or church affliation.
(If you are a believer, but have never been baptized, we urge you also to be baptized since this is a command of Scripture (Acts 10:48). Please contact Pastor Mike about baptism if you are interested in learning more.) (mike@oakcreekbible.com)

If you are investigating Christianity, and have not yet come to faith in Christ, please do not feel pressured to partake of the bread and juice . You can instead observe and reflect on what the Lord's Supper is about. We welcome all sincere questions about Biblical Christianity, so please don't hesitate to ask us.
