Mike is married to his wonderful wife Shawn. They have four children: three boys and one girl. Mike enjoys the outdoors, Shawn enjoys scrapbooking, and their children enjoy wrestling and ice cream.Mike Bauer is OakCreek's pastor. He grew up in New York state, but came to Texas as fast as he could! He loves people and starting new ministries. He has 13 years of ministry experience as associate pastor, youth pastor, and children's pastor. Mike graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master of Theology degree. He most recently served as the associate pastor of Trinity Fellowship in Friendswood, TX. Now, God has moved Trinity to send Mike with a group of people from Trinity Fellowship to start OakCreek.
A note from Mike:
I am very excited about the adventure of starting OakCreek Bible Church. We are "real people relying on a real Savior." We are just average people with everyday struggles trying to hang on to our Savior every step of the way. At OakCreek we are passionate about growing people from all backgrounds into "trees firmly planted" (Psalm 1:3). Really, this is the Chief Shepherd's (Jesus Christ's) idea. This is what motivates me the most.
We believe in preaching and teaching the whole counsel of God's Word (the Bible). I have a teaching plan which encompasses the major elements each of us needs in order to rely on the Savior in every way. However, just studying God's Word alone will not make us whole-hearted followers of Christ. We need to study and apply God's Word in the context of community. That is why we have Life Groups. These meet to further investigate and apply the Scriptures. We incorporate the Scriptures when we commit to obeying the one-another commands of the Bible by loving, admonishing, forgiving, and encouraging one another. It's a life changing experience like no other that grows the body of Christ into His likeness.
Ultimately, our central focus is the Living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ. We love Christ. He is our Lord, Savior, and Friend. So if you come to OakCreek curious about the church and Christianity, we pray you see His love in us though we are far from perfect. We are strugglers who cling to the cross of Christ to save us from our sins. We cling to the hope of the resurrection and eternal life that Jesus guarantees us. It's a hope we would like to share with you. Please ask us. None of us are born knowing the way to God.
